With my sincere apologies to old biblical King David, I have taken the liberty of updating his 23rd Psalm for the Age of Obama.
The Government is my shepherd. I have no job.
It maketh me to believe in the myth of the new “green” economy.
It leadeth me beside the still factories and shuttered shops, it destroyeth my initiative;
It passeth laws for special interests, spendeth my hard earned tax dollars and sets me on the path of the beggar for politics sake;
Yea, though I walk through the Valley of Deficit Spending, I will fear no evil.
For the Government is with me; its welfare programs and its Congressional vote buying measures, they comfort me.
It prepareth an Economic Utopia for me by appropriating the future earnings of my grandchildren.
It filleth my head with baloney, its cup of incompetence and inefficiency runneth over.
Surely the Government shall care for me all the days of my life.
And I shall live in a Fool’s Paradise forever.
Amen.
